FUN FUNDRAISING!
10/06/2009

Sunday 7th June saw a large gathering of guns at the Hone Mill, Stair. The event was organised in memory of young Alistair Boyd whose courageous battle against cancer was lost earlier this year.

13 teams of 5 guns paid to enter a clay pigeon shoot, with all proceeds being donated to a number of cancer research, charitable bodies. Hope Homes fielded their team of Ronnie Young, Duncan McCallum, Ian Hughes, Ian Goodwin and George Loy Senior. What the boys lacked in skill they made up with enthusiasm! Suffice to say no trophies came our way!

With the first clays fired at 9.30 the competitors were blessed with perfect weather conditions. Very welcome refreshments were supplied by the Stair Inn and this was supplemented by trays loaded with tasty home baking kindly produced by supportive wives and partners.

Hope Homes Scotland Ltd. were among the sponsors who donated prizes on the day.
1st prize was 5 bottles of Glenlivet donated by Grants Distillers, 2nd prize 5 bottles of Hope Homes Champagne and 3rd prize 6 bottles of wine.

Our photographs show the competitors at the ready -- and Archie Stobbs, Construction Manager doing something dodgy in the rough!

Happy Birthday at Hansel!
04/06/2009

It was celebration time at Hansel Foundation recently with the first anniversary of the occupation of the new residential unit which Hope Homes built at Symington. Guests were invited to share in a birthday tea which was held within Lindy's Tearoom.

Those unable to attend were not forgotten either as the cake was much enjoyed by the office staff in Drongan!!
Our photos show happy faces enjoying the fun.

Lindy's Tearoom is a welcome oasis on the A77, open to the public each day, and although birthday cake will not be a regular feature on the menu, there is always an array of tasty home baking, sandwiches and hot meals on offer.

SHOWTIME!
20/05/2009

Hope Homes Scotland have long embraced a close working relationship with the farming community throughout Ayrshire. At this time of year, nowhere is this more evident than at the various cattle shows throughout the county.

Over the next few months there will be one, if not two, of these friendly community events each week. We aim to have some form of involvement with each - from Stranraer to Stewarton! This may be by sponsoring a class in competitions or simply a donation towards the general running of the show.
Recent weeks have seen our banners flying at Ochiltree, Kilmaurs and Dundonald to name but a few. Special mention must be made to the biggest of all the shows, Ayr County, which was all but washed out over the weekend of 9th&10th May. Our photograph posted here are evidence - should it be required!

Our connections with the local agricultural community are literally cemented with the many new homes built as private commissions on privately owned farmland. Indeed so popular is this, that we have produced a brochure featuring just a few of these new homes, which is available on request. Click here

HOME OF YOUR DREAMS
20/05/2009

The customised homes side of our business is an area showing very welcome growth. Over the past year we have been commissioned to build almost a dozen architecturally designed new homes on behalf of private clients. This is over and above our developments at Coylton and in the near future, Tarbolton. The customised homes contracts come from the agricultural community as well as other individuals. Typically this will be new build retiral home, a real treat to those having lived all their working days in a draughty old farmhouse! Director Anne Hope is a farmer’s daughter herself!

All enquiries are dealt with on an individual basis and will usually result in a site visit once we receive copies of plans. A quotation to build will be issued and the finishing touches can be discussed while perusing samples of kitchens, tiles, etc. in our bright and airy sales centre at Manse Green, Coylton. Let us take some of the stress out of what is undoubtedly the biggest decision in most peoples’ lifetime.

If you are considering building your own home, register now for a copy of our brochure featuring samples of recently completed individual homes. Click here

Coylton Primary School Future Builders
16/05/2009

Following on from the success of the recent Drongan Primary School visit to our Manse Green site in Coylton, we were very pleased to welcome both the Primary 7 and the Primary 6 classes from Coylton Primary to the development on Thursday 7th May.

The pupils were able to view homes in differing stages of construction and also try their hand at a few on-site activities, Including surveying and brick laying. Even the teachers had a turn, but don't worry parents, we don't think they'll be contemplating a career change any time soon!

Everyone involved in the visit had a very enjoyable day and congratulations go to Liam Cauley, who won the P7 observation quiz (pictured receiving his prize from Gillian Steele).

HOPE HOMES AT THE HOEDOWN!
17/04/2009

Hope Homes Scotland Ltd. recently sponsored the Ayrshire Association of Young Farmers' Clubs Rally Dance. This popular social event was held in Darvel Town Hall on Saturday 11th April, Easter weekend.

A bevvy of beauties was interviewed to appoint the Rally Queen and the judges were faced with some very difficult decisions. Ultimately there has to be a winner and first prize went to Jennifer Bryson of Crossroads Young Farmers. In second place was Lindsay Yuille of Carrick, and third went to Isabel Hunter of the Mauchline club. Each young lady was presented with a commemorative trophy. Everyone in attendance had a most enjoyable time.

The next event on the Young Farmers' calender is the Rally Day held at Whitefordhill Auction Market, Ayr on Saturday 23rd May.

Auchinleck Academy Dragon's Den
02/04/2009

Auchinleck Academy recently hosted an Industrial Awareness Day for their third year pupils, aged 14-15 years old.

The event took place on the 26th March and was designed to assist the pupils with team-building, communication, creativity, industrial awareness, product creation and marketing.

The pupils were encouraged to work as a together to complete teambuilding tasks and then design a product suitable for use by children under 10 years old that would be launched and produced in time for Christmas. At the end of the event the pupils had to pitch the product at a ‘Dragons Den’ style scenario to try and sell it.

Representatives of local businesses helped host the event by acting as Advisers to the 200 third year students. The Advisers’ role was to help the pupils to work as a team and provide them with the knowledge they have about the business industry to help them create their end product and relate their activities to the real working life. Our Receptionist and Marketing Assistant, Carrie Naismith, volunteered as one of the Advisers for the day. Carrie commented that the event was a challenging experience for some of the students, as well as for herself. However, she felt that it would be very beneficial for the pupils to improve their skills and provide them with information about the business industry they would be entering when they leave school.

Drongan P7’s Build Hope for the Future!
12/03/2009

The Primary 7 class from Drongan Primary School visited Hope Homes Scotland’s Manse Green development in Coylton for their recent school outing.

As part of the Education Industry Link that has been in place between Hope Homes Scotland and the school for many years, the class was able to view some homes currently under construction and also try their hand at a few ‘on-site’ activities including joinery, block paving, drainage and bricklaying. Everyone involved in the visit had a very enjoyable time.

The children also took part in a short quiz. The winner, Erin Young, is pictured receiving her book token prize from Heather Kelly of Hope Homes Scotland.

All at Hope Homes feel that the Education Industry Link provides a valuable and positive learning tool. They are hopeful that in the not too distant future, they will see some familiar faces taking up apprenticeships in the building trade. This will not only result in helping to alleviate the national skills shortage but will provide useful and rewarding careers for those who take up the challenge!

NEW HOME FOR HANSEL NOW TRIED AND TESTED
12/01/2009

The Hansel Foundation is a charity which helps people with disabilities to have a future that is interesting, meaningful and fulfilling. They help service users to find work, build their own social lives and plan for their own futures. They support people where, when and how they need it.

Some service users live in small scale accommodation in locations throughout Ayrshire. However, some people are better served by living at Hansel's main location - their familiar Broadmeadows site close to Symington. With this in mind, Hope Homes Scotland entered into a joint initiative with the Hansel Foundation, private trusts (including the Moffat Charitable Trust) and North Ayrshire Council to design and construct a brand new residential facility.

The 300 square metre house has now been completed, and the four residents have settled well in their bespoke new surroundings. Each of the residents has their own spacious, specifically designed bedroom, with access to a large, light and airy open plan lounge/kitchen. This allows people to enjoy time together, with visiting family and friends. A small fifth bedroom ensures a family member can stay over, if required. There is also a sensory room where residents can enjoy activities that make life more satisfying and interesting.

We employed local architects, Robert Potters & Partners to work along with Hansel and ourselves to come up with a unique, innovative design which would be an asset to the Hansel Broadmeadows site.

We hope that Hope Homes' support will make a difference to the lives of people who need help to be able to live a meaningful life.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 800th CUSTOMER!
28/11/2008

Today marked a milestone in the history of the company and a very special occasion for a young couple. Darren Hunt and Carrie Naismith move in to their first home together, little did they know that their two bedroom home would make them the 800th customer for Hope Homes. The occasion is all the more special as Carrie has worked in the company head office for 7 years, and both her parents have also been long serving employees.

Darren and Carrie received their keys from company director Anne Hope, who also presented them with a stunning floral arrangement, a bottle of champagne and a voucher for dinner for two at Costley and Costley Hotels.
